The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented a new law for students of 10th class, which has been told that the exams of 2026 to 10th class will be twice a year from now, CBSE Examination Controller and Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has given information about this while talking to the news agency (NPE) on 25 June 2025.

Giving this information, exam controller Sanyam Bhardwaj also said that this rule is just for 10th class students, he also said that the first phase will be held in February and second in May. And he also stated that it is mandatory to join the first phase, while the second phase will be optional for students.

If a student has not appeared in 3 or more subjects in the first examination, he will not be allowed to appear in the second exam. Such students will be placed in the “required repetition” category and they can appear in the main examinations only in the month of February next year.

Students whose result in first exam is compartment, such students will be allowed to appear in the second exam under compartment category. While giving this information, CBSE 10th Board Exam will be held twice. They also told that the result of the first phase of the examination will come in April 2026. While the result of the second phase of the examination will be released in June 2026.

Filling of LOC will be mandatory and LOC for the second exam will be filled separately. However, no new name will be added in the LOC of the second exam. Subject change from first exam to second exam will not be allowed, all students will have to study the same subject.

The performance of the main exam will be made available in DigiLocker. It can be used for admission to class XI, if the student does not want to appear in the second exam for improvement. Passing documents will be issued to all students after the result of the second exam. The qualifying certificate will also be issued only after the second exam.

He told that now students can improve their result by correcting the marks of many difficult subjects. Students can try to improve marks in three main subjects, science, mathematics, social science and languages. And he has instructed all the schools to make all the students aware of all the examinations.

This rule has been taken to reduce the stress of the board examination of the students and to give them a second chance to improve their marks in the exam.
